Frequently Asked Questions

The following questions are often asked by those interested in knowing more about ASWA.

Yes. We are a UK registered charity. This means that if you are a taxpayer you can pay your subscription or give a donation by Gift Aid so that we can claim the tax you have paid on your gift. All our Trustees are volunteers. Our Charity Number is 1087270.

No but ASWA is a Christian charity so our ethos is a Christian one. Our mission is ‘to put animal welfare of the agenda of the Christian church’.

ASWA is run by a small group of volunteer Trustees. We meet at regular intervals.

If you have a particular skill which you feel could contribute to ASWA’s mission, we would love to hear from you!

ASWA is not a strictly vegan organisation but rather animal welfare focused with a priority to end factory farming.  We do advocate largely plant-based diets and a good number of our trustees are vegan but we also realise that not all of our supporters are vegan but rather follow a high welfare omnivorous diet.  Our magazine features articles promoting vegan diets but we are also open to hearing from farmers who see welfare and sustainability as a priority.

Yes. ASWA does not support hunting or shooting for sport in any of its forms. This includes trail hunting which has been shown to be ‘smokescreen’ for illegal hunting. We also support those campaigning against Trophy Hunting.
